The following bear photos were taken in Alaska, with the exception of some of the Polar bear photos, which were captured in Canada. Alaska is home to large populations of bears. The grizzly bear is common to the interior, and feeds on a mainly vegetarian diet. The brown bear photos were taken in the southern regions of Alaska where they grow large on a protein-rich diet of salmon. They are powerful creatures holding the top position in the food chain for terrestrial Alaska mammals.
