Alaska is home to a healthy recreational and competitive dog mushing community. Some still mush dogs for utility purposes, like hunting, and traveling along a river, but a majority of the dog mushing is now recreational and competetive sport. I've photographed many of the long distance and sprint dog races in the state, and below are some of the photos from these events. The Yukon Quest and the Iditarod are sled dog races about 1000 miles in length. All images are available to license as stock photography and may be purchased as art decor prints for home or office.
