Ptarmigan photos

The Ptarmigan is a bird of the tundra and high alpine slopes in Alaska. It is well known for its unique cryptic appearance, by changing plumage in accordance with the season. It turns pure white in winter, save a few black marks, and blends in perfectly on the snowy tundra. I've photographed ptarmigan in many locations across the state, including the interior and arctic and even in my front yard in Fairbanks, Alaska. All images below are available to license as stock photography and may be purchased as art decor prints for home or office. Read more about ptarmigan.
