If you are at all apprised of the weather conditions of interior Alaska, you know that it is a record setting hot and dry month of July. This usually means forest fires, and as of today there are 79 actively burning across the state. Canada and Russia are also experiencing forest fires, and collectively, there is a lot of smoke in the atmosphere. I made another attempt at aerial photography in the Brooks Range, but there was solid smoke from Fairbanks to Coldfoot, reaching beyond even to the Arctic ocean in Purdhoe Bay. Needless to say, I did not photograph, save for the few shots here to reveal what a sunny day is like when immersed in forest fire smoke. At present, it is raining in Fairbanks, a desperately needed event.
