It seems that the James Dalton Highway, or the Haul Road, has grown increasingly popular as a segment to add to one’s motorcycle roadway achievements. While the road is a mix of pavement and gravel sections, there are plenty of steep hills and precarious conditions awaiting the two wheeler. Rain can turn the road surface into a mucky spray zone of mud, which thickly cakes on the vehicle. This photo was taken on one of those wet days, on perhaps the steepest hill along the road, or at least one of the steepest. It was a grab shot since stopping in this particular spot is not advised and should not be done for long. If I had a flag man holding traffic behind me, it would have been fun to be on a ladder in the middle of the road and shoot down on the blurry riders as they raced by.
