Morning sun on spruce forest, Brooks range, Alaska. Canon 5D Mark III, 500mm f/4l IS II w/1.4x (700mm) 1/640 sec @ f/6.3, ISO 500
In contrast to the last picture shared of the frosted leaves, this is a micro landscape as well, but on a little larger scale. Fresh snow along with the morning light made the ingredients of contrast and shadow strong along a distant hillside. I put down my wide angle lens and grabbed my 500mm along with a 1.4x converter in order to more tightly manage a composition along the distant mountain hillside. This picture also reveals the warm and cool color combination of blue and yellow, a derivative of the warm yellow sunshine and the cool blue shaded areas. It is a color scheme that always seems to work well. While the 500mm plays its better part in wildlife photography, I find myself using it frequently in the landscape as shown in a previous post on the first snowfall in Kulane.
