Red fox trots across Alaska’s arctic coastal plain. Canon 5D Mark III, 500mm f/4L II, 1/1000 sec @ f/13, ISO 100
As this red fox trotted across Alaska’s arctic coastal plain, I grabbed a quick burst of 5 frames. That it was a quick grab shot is revealed in my exposure, since I have no idea what I was doing at f/13. Not that it mattered much since the shutter speed was high enough thanks to all the light, I must have been a leftover setting from a previous scene. When reviewing these images I was reminded yet again how necessary it is to shoot a lot of frames of moving animals, especially fox. Out of the five I took, this was the best, and only one in which the legs looked o.k., at least separated enough for distinction.
