I’ve been collaborating with a friend and colleague on a children’s book on Alaska grizzly bears. The cover image was selected by the publisher, and the choice was not a big surprise since it is one of my all time best selling wildlife stock photos.
While the bear cub sitting on the mother’s back is cute at first appearance, the reason it jumped up there was because it was afraid of a very loud noise caused by a vehicle towing and empty trailer along the park road. The metal parts of the trailer’s ramp were loose enough to make loud clanging metal sounds, and that startled the bear cub.
