If you have been following my blog for a while, then it will be apparent that there has been nothing to follow for a while. I took a little hiatus from the weekly posts, in part for a break and partly because of a heavy travel schedule.
I just returned from a trip to Denali Park, marking my 20th year utilizing the professional photography permit system, which is a great privilege for photographers. This recent excursion however, was not one of my productive ones, I spent a lot of time in the rain and clouds, which can be part of the game of nature photography. Sometimes you can wait a long time for the magic day, and correct conditions. So while I did very little landscape photography, I was able to play around a little bit with my new Canon 200-400mm f/4 lens.
I felt like the only way for me to really see if the lens would be a fit for my style was to put it to the field test over a year. I really like the versatility of this excellent quality lens, but I was a little concerned about it’s size and weight. On its own, it is a fabulous lens, but I’ll see how much use it gets for the type of shooting I do.
