Polar bear and cubs. Canon 5D Mark III, 200-400mm f/4L IS, 1/2000 sec @ f/4, ISO 1000.
That perfect lens is always elusive. I took this shot at 400mm and when reviewing it on my computer later I asked myself why I didn’t at least flip the internal teleconverter on to reach out to 560mm. But I had no answer, I must have been preoccupied in some fashion and just grabbed whatever shot I could. In retrospect, this frame would have been well served by the 500mm with a 1.4x. You can’t always have the perfect focal length lens for every situation but it doesn’t remove the retrospective wishing.
