I realize this is a slightly early Holiday Greeting but I’m off on a 30 day voyage to Antarctica, and will not be posting again until the middle of January, 2014. I hope to have some vibrant images to share from that southern wilderness of ice and penguins. Like the writer Paul Theroux said in The Dark Star Safari: “You go away for a long time and return a different person – you never come all the way back.” This really is the gift of travel, and the heart of adventure. It is not merely to see a different land, but to become a slightly different person. Wishing all of you Happy Holidays. I’ll be celebrating Christmas somewhere adrift across the southern ocean.
